Major Highlights up to March, 2011

  • 150 SHGs formed covering 2046 weavers.  45 SHGs got credit linkage worth Rs 65.15 lakhs from UCO BANK.
  • 6 consortiums formed covering 2954 weavers. All have been registered.. One producer company named as Burdwan Handloom Developers and Producers Co. Pvt. Ltd, registered under Company's   Act, has formed who will run the CFC and Dye House in future.
  • 20 Nos. of awareness meeting held covering 2060 weavers and briefed about the scheme and different benefits like MGBBY and ICICI  LOMBARD Health Scheme.
  • 20 local designers were trained at NIFT Kolkata for five days on techniques of value addition in Handloom Products.
  • Local dyers trained at Govt. College of Textile Technology at Serampur on systematic dyeing process which helped them to reduce the  cost  during production of different dye shades; Over and above 84 nos. of , Cluster based dyers trained in new technique viz; use of Azo-free dyes etc. and use of vegetable colours for exportable items.
  • 69 Women trained by WSC Kolkata in drum warping process. Also, 51 Women weavers trained on sizing Stock-winding machines and 40 women trained in Kantha stitching & 45 women weavers trained in Hand Embroidery 
  • 131 new designs (paper designs) developed. Out of which 50 on diversified product and 81 on traditional Tangail motif based design.  68 newly designed Tangail Sarees  developed through sample production for domestic market which have got excellent demand in the market
  • Awareness programme on GI registration and Handloom Mark conducted. Handloom Mark Registration issued to  93 nos.   of  SHG.
  • CFC Unit :- Building of 2200 sq. ft area constructed for CFC Unit. All the machineries for Testing Lab installed with full electrical connection. Trail run completed. Production started in Sample Loom Centre & so far 48 sample Sarees produced.
  • Dye House:- (PPP, 60:40 model) construction of building of 2000 Sq. ft. area including office and store completed. Full electrification including installation of Transformer completed. All the machines including Boiler and ETP installed. . Commercial production also started. 38 Half Bales i.e., 3450.40 kgs grey 100S DHCR hank yarn dyed so far for which ` 74500.00 as dyeing charges collected by the consortium so far.
  • Additional Infrastructural work (PPP, 80:20 mode) :- Work of fencing/boundary wall surrounding the total campus of CFC and Dye House, installation of main gate and other miscellaneous work also completed.
  •  Total Sales generated Rs 329.90 lakhs through Exhibition and BS Meets. Orders worth Rs. 21.57 Lakhs received from Handloom house. Only 0.57 Lacs order received from CCIC & Rs.34.45 Lacs from State Apex. Total ` 55.95 Lacs supplied to various agencies through participation at different BS meet.
  • Yarn supplied Rs. 63.93 Lacs using 13 cycles utilizing yarn corpus fund meant for Cluster.
