CHIRALA HANDLOOM CLUSTER
Major Highlights / achievements up to March 2011.
- 23 Awareness meetings have been conducted. About 1720 weavers, Master Weavers and other cluster actors have attended.
- 146 SHGs formed covering 1481 weavers.
- One Master Weavers' Consortium named The Consortium of Ipurupalem Handloom Cluster has been registered under 35 of 2001 Act. Covering 2013 weavers & Master weavers.
- Two exposure visits have been conducted with 70 weavers and master weavers to Tamil Nadu and Kerala States
- 62 SHGs, consisting of 622 weavers have given financial assistance of 45.90 Lakhs by Banks.
- 350 weavers have been trained in Weaving, Designing and Dyeing by the Weavers Service Centre, Vijayawada.
- 2 workshops on Natural dyeing conducted for 243 weavers.
- Mobile Sales: 10 villages covered in Prakasham District generating sales worth Rs. 1.29 lakh.
- One pedal loom has been erected for demonstration of weaving plain fabrics for getting higher production and better quality. 7 reeds & healds supplied to individual weavers.
- Participated in 30 exhibitions & BSMs and generated Sales worth Rs. 75.00 lakhs. Sales generated through Handloom house is Rs. 16.84 Lakhs, Total Sales being Rs 91.84 Lakhs.
- 220 nos. of designs developed. No sales generated by the designer. 35 designs converted into products/fabric.
- Yarn Bank status – Rs 243.36 Lakhs worth of yarn supplied to 2100 weavers. 49 cycles completed.
- CFC / Dye House – CFC / Dye House – fully functional. So far 434 bales of 39,030 of yarn were dyed.
